CERRITOS — Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, which has a location in Cerritos, announced recently that they will match the proceeds from their 2012 holiday gift card fundraiser for The Foodbank of Southern California, which is based in Long Beach.
With a total donation of $15,180, more than 1 million meals can be provided by The Foodbank to those in need.
Through the program, which ran from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, Lazy Dog donated the equivalent of 30 warm meals for every $25 in gift cards sold both online and at their 11 locations.
"Since our founding 37 years ago, we've been committed to cost-effective practices that allow us to provide 67 highly-nutritious meals for every $1 donated," Foodbank President John Knapp said in a statement. "In addition to other healthful food stuffs, the donation from Lazy Dog will help us source 200,000 pounds of fresh produce from the Salinas Valley."
